RIM launches new Bold smartphone, BlackBerry 7 OS with NFC

Research In Motion unveiled at its BlackBerry World conference a new version of its Bold smartphone running the latest version of its software, BlackBerry OS 7. The new Bold comes in a tri-band HSPA+ and quad-band GSM version (9900) or dual-band CDMA, dual-band HSPA+ and quad-band GSM model (9930). The phone is expected to go on sale with carriers this summer. The handset features a 2.8-inch touch screen as well as full qwerty keypad, 1.2GHz processor, 768MB RAM, 8 GB of onboard memory, 5 megapixel camera and dual-band Wi-Fi. BlackBerry OS 7 offers new features such as voice-enabled search, NFC, Liquid Graphics for improved video and games graphics, a built-in compass to support augmented reality apps and up to 720p HD video recording. T-Mobile USA said it will offer later this year the new Bold, as its first HSPA+ BlackBerry.
