SAIC deploys BridgeWave gigabit links

Thursday 14 July 2011 | 08:26 CET | News
The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) has deployed gigabit wireless services supplier BridgeWave Communications' AR60-AES gigabit wireless links to connect six campus buildings in downtown Chicago. The School's curriculum relies on internet connectivity and network throughout between buildings, and BridgeWave's capacity links are used to support campus network services, including voice, video, bandwidth-intensive applications and emerging technologies. BridgeWave offered SAIC with embedded AES encryption, link state propagation, a management interface. With BridgeWave's wireless systems, standard fibre cabling from the network switch or router is connected to the radio, extending LAN connections across the campus. BridgeWave's AR60-AES system has enhanced the performance of SAIC's Campus Area Network. SAIC relies on its Campus Area Network to access the internet and systems hosted on servers located in a central data centre, and standardising the Campus Area Network on BridgeWave technology has allowed SAIC to meet its current and future demand.
