SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS UNVEILS SPH-M2100 PHONE

Samsung Electronics has unveiled the SPH-M2100, a mobile phone which also acts as an MP3 audio playback and storage machine. Sales of the phone are targeted at 250k units in S Korea in 1999. The phone features playback mode set-up and repeated phrase playback, and a 16MB flash memory card allowing 20 mins language tuition or up to four average-length tracks to be stored. A 32MB model is due to be launched in September 1999. The battery enables 11 hrs continuous playback of music. Exports of the SPH-M2100 are due by end-1999.
