Samsung files lawsuit against LG Display over LCD patents

Monday 21 January 2013 | 10:22 CET | News
Samsung Display has filed a suit against LG Display seeking invalidation of the latter's patents on LCDs, reports Yonhap News Agency citing legal sector sources. LG Display has raised three patent infringement claims on LCD technologies against Samsung Electronics and Samsung Display. In a suit filed with the Seoul Central District Court in December 2012, LG Display argued that Samsung's Galaxy Note 10.1 infringed on three different patents related to LG's In-Plane Switching (IPS) technology. In response, Samsung Display has filed a suit with an intellectual property tribunal, claiming that the three LCD patents held by LG Display are invalid as there are already existing patents on the same technology.
