Samsung to deliver Blockbuster movies to devices

Tuesday 21 February 2012 | 01:35 CET | News
Samsung will deliver Blockbuster movies to its Smart TVs and Galaxy devices under a global company deal with the movie rental company. The deal will result in movies being streamed to Samsung devices, including TVs, tablets, smartphones, and notebooks, Smarthouse reports citing Paul Uniacke, the chief executive of the Franchise Entertainment Group (which has the rights to the Blockbuster brand in Australia). The content deal with Blockbuster will likely not be announced until the second half of the year. Samsung plans to launch the Blockbuster offering in the first half of the year in the USA, the UK, and Europe, with the Australian region getting access to the content by as early as September. Reportedly, Samsung is developing a global billing system to allow device owners to log into content, pay for it, and then watch or listen to it.
