SIM sales to be restricted in Ukraine

Sunday 19 January 2014 | 17:55 CET | News
The Ukrainian parliament has adopted a legal amendment modifying the Telecommunications Law to restrict SIM sales by operators, reports ProIT. SIMs will now only be sold with subscription contracts, with customers needing to provide personal ID documents during purchase. The new legal document has also expanded the power of national telecoms regulator NKRZI to block internet resources. The regulator will be able to restrict access to certain internet resources which disseminate information which violates the law, as well as access to portals run by unregistered news agencies.
