SingTel launches LTE-A for smartphones

Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel), in partnership with Samsung and Ericsson, has unveiled a commercial 300Mbps 4G LTE-Advanced service for smartphones. The service will be available from 23 August when SingTel launches the Samsung Galaxy S5 4G+, a handset compatible with 4G LTE-Advanced networks. Another compatible smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Alpha 4G+, will be available from SingTel in September.

SingTel has been working with its mobile network equipment provider Ericsson to expand its LTE-Advanced network across Singapore. Street level coverage now extends to more than 55 percent of the island, including areas such as Orchard, the CBD, Shenton Way, City Hall, Ang Mo Kio, Tampines, Jurong, Telok Blangah and Woodlands. Indoor coverage is currently available at 29 busy locations such as Plaza Singapura, Bugis Junction, Suntec City, Raffles City, Tampines Mall and Changi Airport.

Customers will be able to acquire the Samsung Galaxy S5 4G+ and Samsung Galaxy Alpha 4G+ with a Combo mobile plan from SingTel’s retail outlets or online shop.

Estonian mobile operator EMT announced the start of sales of the Huawei E5186 router supporting LTE-A in its shops, and online soon. Subscribers can access up to 300 Mbps broadband the LTE-A router. The router costs EUR 249 and is offered with EMT data plans.

Smart launches LTE-Advanced network in Philippines

Philippines mobile operator Smart Communications has announced that 5G wireless technology, known as LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) is now running in its network. Smart switched on LTE-A at the Smart Jump Center in Mandaluyong City. Bite Lithuania to invest LTL 172 mln in LTE-A network

Mobile operator Bite Lithuania has launched its LTE-Advanced network at the Baltic Sea coastal resorts of Palanga and Nida, with LTE-Advanced Wi-Fi hot-spots installed at numerous restaurants. The operator plans to invest LTL 172 million in the expansion and upgrade of its network over the next several years. Samsung completes development of LTE-A modem chip- report

Samsung Electronics has completed the development of an LTE-A modem chip solution, dubbed Exynos Modem 300, and will integrate it into the company's quad-core processors, Digitimes reports, citing Korean-language D-Daily. SK Telecom commercially launches 225 Mbps LTE-A service

South Korean mobile carrier SK Telecom has commercially launched a LTE-Advanced service enabling speeds of up to 225 Mbps, Cnet reports. SK Telecom plans to introduce Enhanced Inter-Cell Interference Coordination this year. CA will be further advanced to realize up to 300Mbps speed by aggregating two 20MHz component carriers by 2015, and become capable of combining three component carriers by 2016, the company said.
