SK Telecom outlines healthcare business

Korean communications provider SK Telecom has unveiled the future direction of its healthcare business, which has been designated as one of the company's three new growth engines. The company is currently demonstrating three healthcare services/systems including Health-On, Smartcare, Patient Guide and Frend. HealthOn establishes optimal health management goals based on the results of user's medical checkups and consultations and continuously recommends diet and exercise plans, and offers real-time health management systems using internet connectivity. Smartcare is a healthcare service that enables patients with a chronic illness patients to manage their condition by measuring biometric information which can be sent to their healthcare professionals via mobile connectivity. Patient Guide is a mobile application that offers a range of hospital-related guidance services for out-patients while Frend is a point-of-care testing device that uses a single drop of blood to provide immediate on-site diagnosis several disorders. The company said that in the mid-to long-term, SK Telecom will seek opportunities to enter global markets including China, Thailand, Vietnam, Africa, and the Middle East by joining hands with strategic partners around the world.
