Sky looks to provide sports content to phone, cable firms

Pay-TV provider Sky Deutschland is looking for Bundesliga TV rights partnerships with phone and cable companies, CEO Brian Sullivan told the 'Financial Times Deutschland'. Sullivan said that Sky wanted to supply with TV platforms of phone and cable companies with content, including live broadcasts of Bundesliga football games. He is understood to want to avoid a bidding war between Sky and Deutsche Telekom, as both companies look to secure broadcast rights for standard pay-TV, mobile internet and IPTV platforms. Sky currently pays an average of EUR 250 million per season for broadcast rights to Bundesliga games, with Telekom paying around EUR 25 million.
