Skype avoids mobile data ban with new Skype To Go service

Friday 25 February 2011 | 12:35 CET | News
Skype has introduced a new way to take advantage of its VoIP service without the need to access a PC or mobile data connection. The new Skype To Go service provides customers with an alternative number for contacts, so they can make low-cost calls from their mobile or fixed line using their Skype credit. Users need to enter the contact's number on Skype's website and they then receive a local number to use for calling that contact. No extra fee is charged for Skype to Go for customers with Skype prepaid credit or a Skype subscription plan, although users may still incur a local call fee from their telecom providers. The service initially provides numbers for contacts in the US, Canada, Chile, Australia, New Zealand and several countries in Europe.
