Skype, Citrix partner on web, audio conferencing features

Skype has partnered with application delivery infrastructure specialist Citrix Systems at Enterprise Connect 2011 in Orlando, Florida. The partnership will enable Skype to offer web and audio conferencing features enabled with GoToMeeting technology from Citrix. It will also enable to expand Skype's business offerings by providing collaboration features for businesses to set up and hold meetings. Based on Citrix's GoToMeeting product, Skype's web conferencing and audio features are expected to become available towards the end of the year. The web and audio conferencing features offers Skype users instant messaging, voice and video calling, group video calling, conferencing and file sharing. Adding the GoToMeeting feature will also allow users to set up online audio conferencing meetings that users can join via Skype or through PSTN phone numbers. It also features Skype's Silk audio codec, which means Skype users can expect audio quality that is practically crystal clear. In addition, it will also enable screen sharing, whereby meeting hosts can walk through, annotate and highlight whatever they would like to show on their computer screen. GoToMeeting is web conferencing service. The product allows users to schedule meetings or meet immediately, no training or other assistance is required.
