Skype to add advertising to home tab

Skype is adding advertising to its software as a new source of revenue for the company. Ads will start appearing in the "Home" tab of Skype for Windows starting this week. The company has partnered with Meebo in the US, Ad2One in the UK, and Stroer Interactive in Germany to sell advertising for Skype in each of their respective markets. The first advertisers to sign up with Skype include Groupon, Nokia, Universal Pictures and Visa. The display ads on Skype's Home tab can include audio and video, a click-to-call button over Skype and a sharing button for Facebook and Twitter. They can also be closed with one click.
