South Sudan in talks with Spacecom

Israeli communications satellite company Spacecom hopes recent discussions with South Sudan will boost its role in the world's youngest nation, IT Web Africa reported. Spacecom's AMOS-5 satellite, serving Africa, began commercial operations on 25 January. South Sudan's Telecommunications Ministry said officials have discussed potential future cooperation. It is reported that future meetings have been arranged with other Israeli telecoms, aerospace and technology companies. South Sudan hopes its relationship with Israel will assist in producing high-end communications technology shortly. Telecommunication operators are struggling with the country's poor infrastructure, IT Web said.
