T-Mobile CR launches Wi-Fi Calls

T-Mobile Czech Republic launched an internal test of the service Wi-Fi Calls. Based on the technology Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi), the service allows standard mobile calling and sending SMS/MMS over a Wi-Fi network. Within several weeks, the operator will launch Wi-Fi Calls in commercial operation. Back in May, the operator launched Voice over LTE. Wi-Fi Calls will be particularly useful in areas with insufficient mobile network coverage or signal quality. Wi-Fi Calls automatically uses an available Wi-Fi network. Customers need not worry about losing the signal when leaving a Wi-Fi coverage zone; in such case the call switches seamlessly to the LTE network (as a VoLTE call). The same principle applies for moving from LTE to Wi-Fi.
