T-Mobile's new Binge On service streams videos for free

T-Mobile US will launch a mobile video service called ‘Binge On’ on 15 November that gives Simple Choice plan customers access at no extra cost to HBO, Hulu, Netflix, Showtime, Sling TV, Starz, WatchESPN and seventeen other streaming video services if the customer is a subscriber to these services. Binge On does not use up customers’ data allowance. The operator previously introduced a similar offer for streaming music. T-Mobile said it expects to add more video streaming providers soon, as Binge On is open to any streaming video provider who meets the technical requirements and is free to join.

Customers can activate or deactivate Binge On for each line in their My T-Mobile account. Once their data allotment is reached, all usage slows to 2G speeds until the end of the billing cycle. T-Mobile is marking the launch of Binge On with 30 percent off a year’s subscription to Sling TV’s 'Best of Live TV' package for Simple Choice customers. T-Mobile customers with Unlimited smartphone LTE also get a free streaming movie rental every month in 2016 with Binge On.

In a related move, T-Mobile US has doubled data on its Simple Choice plans and reduced the cost of extra GBs. From 15 November, the plans will start at USD 50 per month for unlimited calls and texts and 2 GB of data. Adding a second line with 2 GB data costs USD 30 per month, and each additional line is USD 10. T-Mobile also introduced the Family Match offer to add more data. For an additional USD 10 per month per line, families can add an extra 4 GB data per line. For those who want to customise each line, the cost is USD 15 per month to add 4GB to certain lines, down from USD 20 previously.

The new prices apply to both existing and new customers. As a promotional offer, T-Mobile is making the fourth line free for a limited time. This means a family can get four lines for USD 120 per month, with 6 GB per person.
