Telekom Deutschland deploys 1st LTE base station
Telekom Deutschland has deployed its first LT-based base station in the German state of Brandenburg. The base station uses the 800 MHz frequency and is located in Kyritz. The base station is ready for operations and as soon as commercial end-devices such as phones and USB modems are marketed in 2011, the network will be activated. The operator plans to offer mobile broadband services with a maximum download speed of up to 2 Mbps when the end-devices become available. Telekom Deutschland partners with Huawei and Nokia Siemens Networks for LTE equipment and used NSN equipment for the Kyritz base station. The operator wants to increase the LTE coverage to more than 1,000 locations in Germany, currently without broadband coverage, by the end of this year, followed by another 1,000 locations in 2011.

Telekom Deutschland, Vodafone unveil LTE pricing

Telekom Deutschland has set the prices for LTE in regions without DSL coverage, according to Telekom Deutschland boss Niek Jan van Damme cited by German press agency DPA. Telekom Deutschland deploys LTE in Lower Saxony

Telekom Deutschland has announced the launch of an LTE base station in Harsefeld in Lower Saxony to serve the communities of Harsefeld and Bargstedt. The new technology will bring high-speed mobile broadband to these 'white spots' that previously lacked high-speed broadband coverage. German operators in talks on joint LTE roll-out - TeDe CEO

Telekom Deutschland, Vodafone Germany, O2 Germany will reach an agreement on joint LTE network deployment before the end of this year, according to Telekom Deutschland CEO Niek-Jan van Damme in an interview with the Financial Times Deutschland. Telekom Deutschland expects the first commercial launch of LTE services in April 2011, according to Walter Grethe, Telekom Deutschland's LTE director during a workshop in Bonn, according to onlinekosten.de.
