Telenor launches VoLTE in Denmark
Telenor announced the launch of voice services on its LTE network in Denmark. Telenor said the service will offer shorter call set-up times and improved voice quality, while also preparing the way for the introduction of voice over Wi-Fi services, which the operator aims to launch within a few months. 

The VoLTE was tested for ten weeks in the city of Aalborg with participants at a number of municipal centres. They found that the service provided better indoor coverage for calls as well as improved sound quality. The service was tested with the Samsung Galaxy S6 phone. It's now available across the country on the S6 and S6 Edge phones; customers with compatible devices will be informed of the availability by SMS. Telenor said it worked with Nokia Networks, its core network supplier, to roll out VoLTE.

Telenor Denmark said its customers can now use VoLTE to call home when roaming in Norway. Gradually, this service will be extended to other countries and operators, too. Providers worldwide are expected to close down their 3G networks eventually, Telenor said.

3 Denmark launches Wi-Fi calling and text service for iPhone

Retail and business customers with one of those Fri Tale contracts and with an iPhone model from 5C upwards will be able to use the VoWiFi and Wi-Fi SMS function. Tre said such services are already available via certain applications, but that Tre is phasing it in from 22 to 30 March to provide customers with an easy-to-use service. Upon selecting the Wi-Fi calling option, they will find that their handset automatically picks the network with the best signal.

3 Denmark aims to launch VoLTE, Voice over Wi-Fi in summer

Hutchison Whampoa group unit 3 Denmark said that it expects to start providing Voice over Wi-Fi and Voice over LTE (Volte) services during the course of summer 2016. CEO Morten Christiansen said it is only a matter of time before the last landline customers say goodbye to traditional voice telephony and switch entirely to new technology. Telenor to drop Bibob brand in Denmark

Telenor Denmark announced plans to drop its Bibob brand and merge the activities with its unit CBB. The merger is planned to take effect 22 February. Bibob's existing customers will be able to continue under the same service plans and keep the same Sim cards.
