Telenor Serbia sees New Year SMS traffic up 13%

A total of 37 million text messages (SMS) were delivered through the Telenor network in Serbia between New Year's Eve and 1 January 2012, which is 13 percent more than last year. Between midnight and 01:00 hrs, traffic peaked at 4 million SMS sent. On the first day of 2012 the users of the Telenor network sent 47,200 multimedia messages (MMS). Almost 719,000 text and 4,400 multimedia messages were sent to friends, acquaintances and relatives abroad. In normal circumstances, Telenor's network allows traffic of 600 SMS per second, and for the New Year holidays it was expanded to allow 2,000 SMS per second.
