THAMES TELEVISION PLANS SATELLITE/CABLE CHANNEL LAUNCH

Thames Television will begin broadcasting UK Living, a new cable and satellite television channel, on 01 September 1993, as part of the company's broadcasting partnership with Tele-Communications and fellow cable communications company, Cox Enterprises (both US). The new channel has a launch budget of GBP2 mil and funding of GBP25 mil. The new channel is aimed mainly at women aged 25-45 years old who belong to the lower and middle socio-economic groups, giving the channel a potential target audience of around 3.8 mil women in the UK. The channel will broadcast films, dramas, chat shows and soap operas, most of which will come from Thames Television's and the BBC's programme libraries.
