Tuenti sets sights on 1 mln customers 10 years after launch

Spanish company Tuenti is aiming to celebrate its tenth anniversary by abandoning its activity as a social network and reaching the milestone of 1 million global customers. "Since the company was founded in 2006, Tuenti has kept its innovative spirit intact, evolving its business model from that of a social network to a mobile operator, always remaining at the technological forefront of digital communications," said the company in a statement. Tuenti, now 100 percent owned by Telefonica, revealed last year that 98 percent of its revenues come from its Tuenti Movil MVNO, completing the transformation from its origins as a social network. The company currently has around 600,000 customers in Spain, Peru, Ecuador, Argentina and Mexico, with plans to launch in other Latin American country later this year.

To commemorate its first decade, El Confidencial reports that Tuenti is finalising plans to allow the millions of users and former users of its social network to download of all of the photos they have uploaded to the site as a zip file.
