UK local train company launches m-ticketing app

UK local train company First TransPennine Express (FTPE) has updated its mobile app so that customers travelling to and from Manchester Airport can use their phone as a ticket. The company introduced a mobile app in October 2011 that allowed customers to purchase tickets and plan their journeys. It has now upgraded this app to let customers purchasing Airport Advance tickets to receive receive their ticket in a digital format as an m-ticket. The m-tickets are currently only available for direct journeys to and from Manchester Airport, but could eventually be rolled out on all FTPE routes.
