Mobile VoIP service Viber has released an Android version of its application. The app was first launched around a year ago for Apple's iOS, and the company said it already has 20 million registered users and over 12 million active users (on a 30-day basis). Around half the customers are in Europe. Traffic on the app averages around 11 million minutes per day, running to 1 billion minutes per quarter. The number of SMS sent over Viber is also growing, by around 10-15 percent week, although the company did not disclose total numbers. Viber said it expects the growth to accelerate with the launch of the Android app.
