Vidyo selected by HealthSpot as video conferencing partner

Wednesday 9 January 2013 | 13:52 CET | News
Healthcare technology specialist HealthSpot has integrated Vidyo technology into its telehealth system that provides medical diagnostics to acute care patients. Anchoring the telehealth system is the HealthSpot Station, a private, walk-in kiosk that offers patient access to diagnosis and treatment by board-certified doctors, via Vidyo-powered HD videoconferencing and interactive digital medical devices. Vidyo’s Adaptive Video Layering architecture and video codec, provides HealthSpot with video and audio quality for the physician-patient interaction. The kiosk, enabled by Vidyo’s integrated APIs, provides Vidyo-based HD audio and video communications. Each station is supported by a certified medical attendant who facilitates check-in, helps patients with devices as needed, and sanitises the kiosk after every visit.

Vidyo provides a software communication and collaboration platform that can be customised for healthcare needs and integrated into other healthcare services. The VidyoRouter architecture delivers Adaptive Video Layering, which optimises the video for each endpoint using H.264 Scalable Video Coding (SVC)-based compression technology and Vidyo’s IP. Vidyo delivers encryption, provides HIPAA-compliant security, and integrates into existing healthcare environments with support for a variety of medical devices and interoperability with existing conferencing infrastructure. HealthSpot will demonstrate the Vidyo-enabled HealthSpot Station in the Grand Lobby at CES in Las Vegas, Nevada.
