Vodafone Germany confirms LTE USB modem launch

Vodafone Germany has confirmed the availability of LTE Surfsticks offering mobile broadband internet access via LTE technology. The USB modems are provided by Samsung and are available in selected Vodafone shops in rural areas. The LTE stick offers mobile internet access with speeds up to 3 Mbps and cost EUR 1 plus EUR 2.50 per month. Customers can use the stick in combination with a special tariff called LTE Zuhause Internet, which costs EUR 39.95 offering mobile internet access with speeds up to 7.2 Mbps. The tariff is also available with speeds up to 21.6 Mbps for EUR 49.90 per month and with speeds up to 50 Mbps for EUR 69.99 per month. Vodafone's LTE service will be available in several hundred municipalities before the end of this year and Vodafone plans to have deployed LTE at 1,500 antenna locations by the end of March 2011.
