Vodafone Germany tests LTE-Broadcast technology in Kiel
Vodafone Germany will use the Kiel Week sailing regatta to demonstrate LTE-Broadcast technology. Visitors in Kiel will be able to watch live video transmissions of the race on their smartphones and tablets in real-time. They will be able to choose from several camera perspectives. Vodafone will test the technology during the whole week with partners including the Sailing Team Germany, Huawei, Presentec and DreamChip.

Vodafone Red customers in Germany to get LTE upgrade

Vodafone Germany's supervisory board has agreed to extend the contract of CEO Jens Schulte-Bockum by three additional years until 31 March 2018. The extension was approved unanimously. Vodafone Germany will make LTE available to CallYa pre-paid customers from 02 July. It will offer three mobile broadband options for customers - 500 MB LTE data for an extra EUR 10 per month, 1 GB for EUR 15 per month and a 250 MB data option at EUR 5 per month extra for light users. Vodafone Germany will launch the new Smart Tab 4 tablet at-start July. The device will be available for EUR 1 with a mobile internet flat tariff, or EUR 160 without a contract. It has an 8-in display, 1.3 GHz quad-core processor and 1 GB RAM.

Vodafone Germany to launch new Smart L tariff

Vodafone Germany will launch the new Smart L smartphone tariff on 01 July, teltarif.de reports. This will offer mobile internet access at speeds up to 21.6 Mbps via GPRS and UMTS. The new offer will cost EUR 29.99 a month SIM-only for customers booking during the promotional period to 30 September. From October, the tariff will cost EUR 34.99 a month for new customers. The tariff includes 300 MB high-speed data, plus SMS Flat and phone flat-rate.

Vodafone Germany has launched a new pre-paid tariff model. The three new CallYa tariffs now include a phone flat-rate, with Vodafone increasing mobile data allowances and doubling the maximum data speeds to 14.4 Mbps. Vodafone Germany's discount brand Otelo has launched a series of promotions for new contract customers, inside-handy.de reports. It is discounts on the Allnet-Flat M, L and XL tariffs when customers sign up online, cutting the cost from EUR 24.99, EUR 29.99 and EUR 34.99 a month to EUR 22.49, EUR 26.99 and EUR 31.49 a month. Vodafone Germany upgrades network in Berlin

Vodafone Germany has upgraded its network in Berlin to offer double data capacity and improved voice quality. This is part of a nationwide EUR 4 billion network investment programme. The network has been upgraded at 905 cities across the city, with Vodafone now reaching more than 99.7 percent of Berlin homes with high-speed mobile data services. The increased data speeds were provided by upgrading UMTS base stations to HSPA+ technology, which supports data rates up to 42.2 Mbps.

Vodafone Germany's discount brand Otelo has cut the cost of roaming options in time for the summer holiday season, teltarif.de reports. It has also doubled inclusive allowances. Vodafone Germany unveils new roaming offers

Vodafone Germany has confirmed the launch of new roaming offers for the 2014 holiday season. It is offering customers access to LTE in six partner networks across Europe with immediate effect - Portugal, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Greece and the UK - at no extra cost. Other countries will be added in the future. This means that Vodafone customers using LTE in Germany will have automatic access to LTE in these markets.
