Vodafone Germany tests TV via LTE, starts city roll-outs
Friday 2 September 2011 | 09:29 CET
Vodafone Germany plans to start the roll-out of its LTE network in cities. The network currently covers around 5 million Germans and following a roll-out in predominantly rural regions, Vodafone will start activating LTE in cities, starting with Duesseldorf, according to CEO Friedrich Joussen at the company's press conference at the IFA trade fair in Berlin. He also announced that Vodafone will add LTE to its Vodafone TV set-top box to increase the number of possible TV customers. The hybrid set-top box can be used with existing analogue cable or satellite TV services and uses DSL to provide additional TV channels and services. The LTE version will first be tested by Vodafone LTE customers.
