Today, for the first time, business customers can purchase a datacard that plugs into their laptop giving them high speed remote access to the company intranet, Internet, email and office applications - enabling them to work more productively and effectively when away from the office.
Available today in 64 Vodafone Retail stores, the recommended retail price for the Vodafone Mobile Connect 3G/GPRS datacard ranges from GBP50 to GBP180 (excluding VAT).* With speeds of up to 384 kbps***, the Vodafone Mobile Connect 3G/GPRS datacard increases the speed and efficiency of popular office applications in a mobile environment.
"The high street launch of our 3G/GPRS datacard is an important milestone for Vodafone UK and a first for UK businesses," says Bill Morrow, CEO, Vodafone UK. "The changing nature of UK working habits has prompted us to provide full working mobility wherever and whenever it's needed."
"The success of our Mobile Connect GPRS service, launched in 2003, is already testament to this. In a third generation environment Mobile Connect performance reaches new levels, making business more flexible and productive - something our customers are likening to the speeds achieved with fixed ADSL access," Morrow added.
Designed to meet the needs of individuals, small businesses and large corporate customers alike, the Vodafone Mobile Connect 3G/GPRS datacard plugs into a laptop and provides a simple, integrated and secure means of accessing information and data anytime, anywhere.
An Internet Access version of the service, providing personal and small business customers with mobile access to public Internet-based services such as full HTML browsing and POP3 email accounts, is available now at 64 Vodafone UK Retail stores.
The Remote Access version, which also enables secure and private connections to corporate networks, is available through Vodafone UK's business sales channels.
All users benefit from seamless working between Vodafone UK's 3G and GPRS bearer services. When entering 3G coverage areas**, users will experience significantly higher data speeds. Where users are outside the range of 3G coverage, the service automatically switches to the Vodafone UK GPRS data network, which covers 99% of the UK population.
