US cable operator Wow! has unveiled its new home gateway, marketed under the name Ultra TV. The new box developed with Arris over the past year includes features such as a whole-home HD DVR that can record up to six programmes at once, a wireless router with networked storage and an on-screen interface with programming guide and advanced search features. Applications include games, parental controls, Flickr, VoD and on-screen caller ID. Wow! said additional features will be added in future through software upgrades. Ultra TV bundles start at USD 90 per month and include cable and internet, an Ultra TV Media Gateway and two media players. Customers can lease up to five media players for a whole-home HD DVR throughout their house. Arris said Wow! is using the Arris Whole Home Solution, which consists of the Moxi Gateway, a multi-services platform providing integrated multimedia entertainment to the entire home, and Moxi Players, which connect to each TV to enable individual service delivery. It will use the Moxi User Interface branded for Wow! and will offer the full functionality of the Whole Home Solution, including six-tuner HD DVR, Docsis 3.0, VoIP, media sharing, MoCA connectivity and optional in-home WiFi routing.
