Zain Jordan launches HSPA+
Zain Jordan has launched broadband services using HSPA+ technology. Zain Jordan CEO Abdul Malek Al Jaber said the company invested JOD 120 million in 2010 to provide the 3G service in 2011. The HSPA+ service will provide high-speed internet at up to 21 Mbps upon launch, and the service can be upgraded to provide up to 42 Mbps in the future. The HSPA+ network covers 97 percent of populated areas across Jordan, with about 1,000 stations installed across the country. Jaber says the target is to reach 500,000 users of the technology by the end of 2012. As the services covers remote areas in Jordan that were not provided with internet services, the company expects internet penetration in the country to increase thanks to the new service.
