Zegona confirms exclusive talks to buy Yoigo
UK-based investment fund Zegona has confirmed it's in exclusive talks to acquire the mobile operator Yoigo from TeliaSonera. TeliaSonera also confirmed the talks but did not provide further details on the potential divestment. 

Earlier reports suggested Zegona was offering around EUR 500 million for Spain's smallest mobile operator. Zegona is an investment vehicle set up by former Virgin Media finance director Eamonn O'Hare. Last year it acquired regional broadband operator Telecable.

Spanish operator MasMovil has made the highest bid to acquire the 77 percent stake in mobile operator Yoigo owned by Telia, according to unnamed sources cited by Expansion. Telia has improved its outlook for the full year, after a strong first quarter. Instead of targeting unchanged adjusted EBITDA this year, the operator now expects a flat to slightly higher result. Orange Spain outbid its rivals to secure the majority of the regional frequencies in the 2.6 GHz and 3.5 GHz bands auctioned by the industry ministry, reports business daily Expansion. UK-based investment fund Zegona has offered over EUR 500 million for the 77 percent stake in Spanish mobile operator Yoigo owned by TeliaSonera, according to unnamed sources cited by business daily Expansion. Yoigo to expand 4G network to 80% of Spain by May 2016

Spanish mobile operator Yoigo has announced plans to expand its 4G network from the current figure of 66 percent to over 80 percent of the Spanish population by May 2016. The EUR 25 million rollout will see the operator reach 7.5 million more inhabitants and a total of 1,163 localities throughout the Spanish territory. The Spanish mobile market appears to be entering slightly more stable waters, after the approved mergers of Ono and Vodafone, and Jazztel and Orange.
