Wi-Fi use outside the home

This chart looks at Wi-Fi use by Dutch consumers outside the home. The first part of the question asked was: "Did you use Wi-Fi at other locations than your home (such as at friends or via public hotspots) in the past six months? This could be over your mobile phone, laptop, tablet, iPod, etc. Public hotspots are places with access to Wi-Fi. This can be at a hotel or restaurant or in a train." The second part of the question was: "Did you pay for the access or did you receive a password?". Consumers could choose from the following answers: Did not use Wi-Fi outside the home in the past six months; Free use after password access (via friends or in a hotel); Free use without password; Paid for temporary access; Free use after password access (via mobile or fixed internet subscription); Paid use via subcription to hotspots. Don't know answers have been excluded from the graph. The results are shown for three different months in 2011, and the data of December 2011 is split for different age groups. Source: Telecompaper Consumer Panel. Results are CBS stratified for gender and age (15-65). The survey data is from March (n=1,100), May (n=2,380) and December 2011 (n=2,235).
