Digium launches app engine, API information centre

Digium, the Asterisk company, has launched the Digium Phone App Engine and Phone API Information Center for the Digium IP phones. The Digium IP phones include an applications engine that uses a JavaScript API. The JavaScript API allows developers to create custom phone applications and Switchvox, Digium's unified communications service, to the Digium IP phones. The App Engine interfaces with the phone's features and allows web developer to build applications for emergency notifications, weather alerts, call centre applications, CRM integrations, business process automations and social media integrations. The combination of the App Engine and the Digium Phone Module for Asterisk (DPMA) enables Digium's phones to be customised. The Digium phones include D70 executive-level HD IP phone; D50 mid-level HD IP phone and D40 entry-level HD IP phone. The Digium App Engine is generally available and included in all Digium IP phones, beginning with firmware version 1.3, and can be used with DPMA version 1.5 and Switchvox version 5.7 or later. The D70 model is priced at USD 299, D50 for USD 189 and the D40 for USD 129.
