Pakistan teledensity passes 77% in November

The number of mobile subscribers in Pakistan reached 132.33 million at the end of November 2013, up from 131.53 million in October, the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority reported. Mobilink remained the largest operator, with 37.72 million customers, an increase of 190,000 from the previous month. Telenor Pakistan passed the 33 million mark, with the addition of around 180,000 new customers in November. Zong showed the strongest customer growth, up by almost 280,000 to 23.72 million, and Ufone was little changed in the month at 25.01 million. Warid posted a small increase in its customer base, to 12.87 million.

Including around 3.04 million fixed lines and 2.91 million wireless local loop users, teledensity in Pakistan was at 77.1 percent of the population at the end of November, up from 76.9 in October. The latest figures for broadband penetration showed 3.03 million subscribers at the end of October, of which 1.26 million on CDMA EVDO and 1.15 million on DSL.
