Tasmanian govt picks Anittel for managed voice services

Wednesday 29 August 2012 | 01:51 CET | News
The Tasmanian government has selected Anittel for managed voice services. The technology will implemented through a planned roll-out across the state government to replace the current system and the first step will be to complete a trial. The announcement is the third in a set of agreements required to replace the current dated telephony services of the Tasmanian government; as the current system is to be discontinued by the only supplier. The government recently selected Telstra as the supplier for the traditional technologies and MyNetFone as the supplier for voice services based on IP technologies. Anittel will provide the voice network, including in-building equipment such as handsets and switching equipment. If the Anittel trials are successful the five year contract has a minimum value of approximately AUD 7 million, with extensions of up to a total of 14 years.
