Telecom Italia could merge with Sky Italia - report
Bernstein Research predicts a shake-up of Italy's pay-TV sector with Telecom Italia either entering on its own, or through a merger with Sky Italia. In a research note, it said that Telecom Italia's status quo is unsustainable and the potential threat of an aggressive new competitor for Sky Italia represents a risk that could force it into merger talks.

Sky, Mediaset deny agreement on football rights

During the IT Media Consulting conference, Italian broadcasters Sky Italia and Mediaset have denied any collusion regarding the sale of the TV rights to football matches in the Serie A. Sky Italia CEO Andrea Zappia said the real anomaly is that Italy is the only country where there is no exclusivity in the sale of football rights, adding that there is not a sale per product, but rather per platform.
