UPC launches first phase of Connected Stadium at PSV

UPC Netherlands, the football club PSV and Infostrada Sports have started the joint project Connected Stadium, to bring Wi-Fi and new content services to the PSV stadium in Eindhoven. The network first announced in April went live at the PSV match on 16 August, allowing the around 30,000 visitors to the stadium to have simultaneous access to Wi-Fi. Around 17,000 people made use of the network during the match, with some 11,000 online at the same time. 

he Connected Stadium project offers wireless internet, online media, a PSV app and other digital services. In the next phase of the project, fans will have increased access to social media and e-mail. UPC deployed the Wi-Fi technology, creating a high-density wireless network connected to its own cable network. It supports high-capacity, simultaneous access for thousands of fans within a 1 square kilometer area.
