The new round of investment will be used to accelerate partner integration for the travelling WeeMee and establish WeeWorld as the world's leading digital identity provider. The company has also scaled up its international presence with the extension of its partnership with MSN Messenger, the world's number one instant messaging service with over 205 million users worldwide. Users in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Norway and Sweden now join those in the United Kingdom, Spain, Holland and Belgium in being able to build their own WeeMee digital identity through MSN Messenger. WeeWorld completed its Series A round of funding in March 2005 with Benchmark Capital and has grown rapidly since, opening new offices in London and Boston, growing the WeeWorld team and extending its mobile and web product offerings. WeeWorld also completed deals with some of the largest communities and service providers within the online and mobile sectors, including MSN, Friends Reunited and Skype globally. Users easily create their unique WeeMee identity to use across all their digital communications channels - from instant messaging to email, blogging, VoIP, picture messaging and mobile IDs – and can search for other WeeMees worldwide, based on interests, looks, location, passions, enthusiasms and opinions. "A new WeeMee is born every five seconds" said Celia Francis, CEO of WeeWorld. "WeeMees are easy, irreverent and fun to play with, and offer great opportunities for our partners." "We're delighted that Accel Partners have chosen to invest in WeeWorld and we're proud that Benchmark has reinvested for our Series B funding. The fact that two such notable investors have made a large commitment to WeeWorld is a testament to the company's historic track record, user growth and future strategy." Bruce Golden, General Partner at Accel Partners, said, "WeeWorld is leading the trend in allowing people to easily and openly create, share, manage and publish their own self-expressive content across the web and mobile. We are looking forward to a period of high growth as the company secures new deals with major companies in both areas and continues to attract users globally." Barry Maloney, General Partner at Benchmark Capital, said, "Personalisation is going to be a key driver for online and mobile businesses over the next several years. Consumers want to bring their digital experiences, interactions and contacts into their real life and WeeWorld enables this to happen in a fun and accessible manner."
