Wi-Lan inks four licence agreements in Q3

Licensing company Wi-Lan has provided a business update for the third quarter. Wi-Lan signed licences with four companies during the third quarter this year. Wi-Lan and Ixia signed a multi-year licence agreement for Wi-Fi related technologies. Infinite Digital and previous licensees, Makena Electronic and HKC Overseas, signed multi-year licences related to Wi-Lan's V-chip technology. Wi-Lan is currently in licensing discussions and negotiations with a number of prospective licensees. Wi-Lan's Gladios IP subsidiary works with companies that are seeking assistance in licensing their valuable patent portfolios. Wi-Lan's Gladios IP subsidiary has signed agreements with four additional companies bringing the total number of Gladios clients to six. The four portfolios cover on-line gaming, on-line gambling, networking technology and internet connectivity. In the third quarter, Wi-Lan sold a portion of its biometric technologies portfolio including eight US patents to an undisclosed buyer. These patents were acquired by Wi-Lan from Infineon Technologies.Terms of the sale are confidential and are not considered material to Wi-Lan.
