Belgium allows telecom shops to reopen

The Belgian government is allowing telecom shops to re-open in limited circumstances. Most had closed from mid-March when nationwide confinement measures were put in place to halt the spread of the coronavirus. Under a new royal decree published 03 April, telecom shops can open for "emergency" situations. Shops selling only accessories are excluded, and the stores may receive only one customer at a time. 

None of the major operators have announced yet whether they will open certain stores.

Belgian operator Telenet announced that it has started re-opening shops and bringing staff back into the office. Belgian regulator provides guidelines for reopening telecom shops

Belgian regulator BIPT has officially designated telecom firms as "essential" services, and provided more guidelines on its rules allowing shops to reopen. Under the ministerial decree of 23 March, aimed at containing the coronavirus outbreak, all non-essential stores in Belgium, and these included telecom shops, were ordered to close and remain closed. The new ministerial decree of 3 April will now allow some telecom stores to reopen, under strict conditions.

Belgische telecomshops mogen weer beperkt open

Telecomwinkels mogen weer open in België. De regering versoepelt vanaf 6 april de lockdown die werd opgelegd wegens de coronacrisis. Winkels mogen per keer één klant binnenlaten en alleen voor dringende zaken, blijkt uit het Koninklijk Besluit.

Belgian operators offer free data, TV and close shops during lock-down

Belgium's telecom operators Proximus, Orange and Telenet have announced extra data and other free offers for customers following the lock-down imposed on the country to stem the spread of coronavirus. They are also closing shops and working staff from home, as proscribed by the authorities, and preparing their networks for expected increases in traffic due to more people at home.
