Live TF1 channels launch on Netflix in France

Netflix has confirmed the launch of the live TF1 channel in France on its platform. France's leading broadcaster as well as its catch-up service TF1+ are available directly on Netflix for the latter's subscribers in France, marking a new distribution model for the broadcaster and streamer.

Spectrum Intelligence Ventures, AI intelligence unit of Charter Communications' Spectrum business, has developed a new privacy-focused household intelligence platform called Latis, designed for the AI era. This turns real-world household signals into continuously-updated intelligence for legitimate business purposes. It is based on Spectrum's first-party data signals covering TV viewership, digital engagement and connected device activity across around 30 million US households.

SpaceX has invested nearly EUR 100 million in Romania, turning it into a relevant regional center for the company in Europe, Agerpres reports, citing Pavel Popescu, VP of the country's telecoms regulator Ancom. The statement was made at the Digital Romania Forum.

Hyperoptic sees network traffic spikes during World Cup games

UK fibre altnet Hyperoptic said some of the highest network traffic spikes on its network so far in June has been driven by fans watching 2026 FIFA World Cup games. It recorded peal network traffic around 10 percent higher than a standard Wednesday evening (around 1.4 Tbps) during the open game of the competition. During England's first game on Wednesday 17 June, traffic peaked at around 1.6 Tbps (around 15% higher than typical early-June Wednesday evening).

FuboTV live streams games from BIG3 3-on-3 basketball league

FuboTV has signed an agreement with BIG3, worldwide 3-on-3 basketball league, to stream the 2026 season live on the Fubo Sports Network FAST channel. From 20 June, FuboTV will stream 16 live games for the 9th season of the league, with two games streamed per week. Fubo Sports Network will also become home for BIG3s library of archived games telecasts from seasons 6-8.

Spain has emerged as the leading market for free ad-supported streaming television in Europe, with 79.3 percent of viewers consuming FAST content daily or several times a week, according to a Rakuten TV survey. The report, titled "The FAST Advantage", showed Spain ahead of Germany (78.3%), France (78.0%), Italy (67.3%) and the UK (65.3%). Polish video time down in May - Nielsen

Video time in Poland was down in May, according to The Gauge study from Nielsen. The average time spent in front of the TV screen was 3 hours and 36 minutes, representing a 15-minute decrease compared to April and down by 14 minutes compared to May 2025 when there was a presidential election. Cable accounted for 37.7 percent of viewing, ahead of satellite (23.1 percent) and terrestrial (21.0 percent), while streaming's share of TV time dropped to 10.7 percent, down from 10.9 percent in April.

Media company CNN has made its 'All Access' streaming subscription available on Amazon Prime Video in the US. This allows Amazon customers to sign up for CNN content including 24/7 worldwide live news channels, premium original content from CNN Originals, CNN live events, breaking news coverage and exclusive VoD content. The CNN All Access subscription is available for USD 6.99 per month through Prime Video, or an introductory offer of USD 41.99 for the annual subscription.

ITV sees peak of 15.4 million viewers for England World Cup match

UK broadcaster ITV registered a peak of 15.4 million viewers (TV set) for its coverage of England's first game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Wednesday 17 June. This is the highest peak UK TV audience of 2026, beating the 9.8 million registered by BBC show 'The Traitors'; and is the highest peak audience on any channel or streamer since the 2025 UEFA Euro tournament.

Japanese partners cut NTN antenna weight by 47% in satellite terminal trial

The National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT), Sharp Corporation, Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation and Techlab have developed a new heat dissipation design that reduces the weight of a non-terrestrial network (NTN) planar antenna by 47 percent, from 5.5 kg to 2.9 kg. The partners achieved the reduction by replacing a conventional aluminium heat dissipation device with a composite structure combining carbon fibre prepreg and graphite sheet materials.

Dazn suspends new subscriptions to Dazn Soccer in Japan

Sports streaming platform Dazn has suspended new subscriptions to its Dazn Soccer package after identifying issues with how plan details and contract terms were presented to customers. In a notice published on 19 June, the company said it had confirmed that parts of the information and sign-up process for Dazn Soccer may have been unclear and could potentially have led to customer misunderstandings regarding the plan's contents and contractual conditions.

NTT tests private 5G for multi-camera live transmission during J.League

NTT and NTT East have completed a trial using a private 5G network to transmit live video feeds from multiple cameras during a J.League match held at MUFG Stadium (National Stadium) in Tokyo in June 2026. The demonstration involved the use of referee, steadicam and gimbal cameras connected via a private 5G network deployed within the stadium. Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) has launched its HBO Max streaming service directly to consumers in New Zealand and Vietnam, completing the platform's rollout across key markets in Southeast Asia and Australasia. The company said HBO Max is now available in more than 35 markets across the Asia-Pacific region. The service offers content from brands including HBO, Warner Bros, DC and Harry Potter.

Roku has announced a partnership with Smartly, AI-powered ad technology platform, to help advertisers extend social advertising to connected TV (CTV). The partnership creates a direct connection between Smartly and Roku Ads Manager, through the Roku Ads API. This allows brands to run CTV ad campaign using tools already used for social, adapting existing social assets for the TV screen.

Iraq approves Starlink operating license

Iraq has approved Starlink's operating license to launch satellite internet service in the country, Iraqi News reported. This agreement, cleared in coordination between Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi and US Special Presidential Envoy Tom Barrack, permits SpaceX's low-Earth orbit satellite network to formally enter the country.

Latest study shows Irish people losing trust in news

Irish people are losing trust in news, with 42 percent of people saying they can trust most news most of the time, down from 51 percent in 2025. The latest annual Digital News Report Ireland from regulator Coimisiun na Mean (Cnam) shows the 18-24 age group as having the lowest trust in news (33%), with those aged 65+ having the highest levels of trust (52%). Overall, trust in news in Ireland is relatively high compared to the European average (36%) and in the UK (31%) and US (26%).

RTL moves nightly talk show 'Lubach' to streaming first, before linear broadcast

RTL Netherlands announced a new move in its streaming-first strategy, making its popular talk show 'Lubach' available online before the nightly broadcast. From 31 August, the show will debut on its streaming service Videoland at 21.00 hours, before the linear broadcast at 23.00 hours on the linear channel RTL 4. According to presenter Arjen Lubach, the format of the show will be unchanged in the new season and distribution.

UK broadcast 5 to show Tour de France highlights

Warner Bros Discovery-owned TNT Sports has signed a multi-year agreement with UK broadcaster 5 for the PSB to show highlights of Grand Tour elite cycling for the next three years. The agreement covers the Tour de France (2026-2028), as well the Vuelta a Espana (2026-2028) and the Giro d'Italia (2027-2019), known as the Grand Tours.

EQT agrees to acquire Exolaunch

Investment company EQT said its EQT X fund has agreed to acquire Germany's Exolaunch, a satellite deployment technology and launch mission management company. Exolaunch has deployed more than 790 satellites on 47 missions and has flown on every SpaceX Transporter and Bandwagon rideshare mission aboard Falcon 9. The purchase from founder Dmitriy Sternharz is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026 and EQT X is projected to be invested at 80 to 85 percent.

BeIN extends Wimbledon MENA broadcast rights through 2030

BeIN Media Group announced a five-year extension of its broadcast partnership with the All England Lawn Tennis Club. The deal secures exclusive rights to The Championships, Wimbledon tennis tournament across 24 Middle East and North Africa (MENA) territories until 2030. BeIN Sports will provide exclusive, live coverage of the championships across the MENA region. Fans can stream every match live or on-demand using TOD by BeIN or BeIN Connect on any device.

BT Group unit EE has announced availability of the Disney+ app on the EE TV Box and EE TV Box Edge. This will give EE TV customers with a Disney+ subscription easy access to entertainment and live sports from Disney, Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars, Hulu, Nat Geo, FX and ESPN.

Siminn broadcasts 'Bergmal' summer solstice festival live as part of 120th anniversary celebrations

Icelandic operator Siminn said it will carry a live broadcast on Sjonvarp Siminn of the Bergmal (Echoes) summer solstice music festival in Thingvellir National Park on 20 June. The broadcast is part of the celebrations marking Siminn's 120th anniversary. The band Kaleo is the festival's headline act and other performers include Emiliana Torrini, Mugison, Studmenn, Helgi Bjornsson, Hjalmar, GDRN, Junius Meyvant, KK and Arny Margret.
