Unidata revenue up 8% to EUR 54 mln in H1

Rome-based operator Unidata reported an 8 percent year-on-year rise in its revenues to EUR 53.6 million in the first half of 2026, thanks to growth in infrastructure (+17%) and services (+5%). Adjusted EBITDA was unchanged at EUR 13.7 million, with a margin of 25.6 percent compared to 27.7 percent a year earlier.

Kena gifts 100GB a month for automatic top-ups until year-end

Telecom Italia's low-cost brand Kena has re-launched a promotion to persuade prepay clients to sign up to its automatic top-up service. Under the "100 Giga gratis per te" offer, prepay customers signed up to plans costing at least EUR 5 a month who agree to switch to automatic top-ups receive a bonus 100GB a month of data valid in Italy, up from the 50GB previously offered.

Open Fiber cleared to hike FWA speed to 1 Gbps

Italian communications watchdog has approved the proposal of wholesale operator Open Fiber to expand its portfolio by introducing fixed-wireless access (FWA) speeds of up 1 Gbps in areas covered by the "Italia a 1 Giga" plan. The new Open Stream FWA service at speeds of up to 1 Gbps in download and up to 200 Mbps in upload will be available in white areas all over the country, initially for around 697,000 housing units.

Italy industrial output rises 0.7% in July

Italy's industrial production climbed 0.7 percent in July compared to the previous month, when it declined 1.0 percent, according to the latest data from national statistics agency Istat. Other manufacturing industries, repair and installation of machinery and equipment (-3.6%) and the manufacture of electrical equipment and non-electrical household appliances (-2.8%) posted the steepest falls, offset by a 7.6 percent annual rise in the supply of electricity, gas, steam and air (+7.6%) and a 2.4 percent inc

Telecom Italia (TIM) said its board of directors "welcomed" Poste Italiane's improved cash offer for TIM ordinary shares. State-backed Poste increased the cash component of its offer by EUR 0.30 to EUR 1.97 per share a few days ahead of the bid's closing date, with the offer of 0.218 newly-issued Poste ordinary shares for each TIM share tendered remaining unchanged. The financial services and postal provider added that the new consideration is final and will not be increased.

Telecom Italia's low-cost brand Kena is contacting ex-customers to offer them a 'winback' plan with 200GB of data for under EUR 5 a month, reports Mondo Mobile Web, citing SMS sent to former clients. The prepay plan, dubbed Kena 4.99 200GB Limited Edition 5G, includes the 200 GB data bundle plus unlimited calls and 200 SMS for EUR 5.99 a month, with the operator also waiving the activation fee for returning clients.

Ovzon renews Italian fire brigade satcom contract

Swedish satellite services provider Ovzon has secured a 12-month renewal to supply satellite communications services to Italy's Corpo Nazionale dei Vigili del Fuoco, the country's national Fire and Rescue Service. The contract, worth USD 0.45 million, takes effect immediately and ensures uninterrupted continuity of the connectivity services the brigade has relied on from Ovzon for four consecutive years.

Italian operator WindTre has launched a 'winback' plan in its Go-branded range targeted at lapsed customers that comes with 250GB of data for under EUR 5 a month, reports Mondo Mobile Web, citing SMS sent to users. The rate, called WindTre Go 220 XXS 5G, includes unlimited minutes to all national landline and mobile numbers plus 50 SMS to all national numbers as well as 220GB of data at fastest possible 5G speeds for EUR 4.99 a month.

Sky Italia has relaunched promotion to persuade existing TV subscribers to sign up to its 'Sky Wifi' fixed broadband service. Under the offer running until at least 20 September, customers who activate a Sky Wifi plan will receive a free EUR 100 Amazon voucher as well as lower monthly payments.

European chipmaker EnSilica announced plans to open a new Space & Communications Semiconductor Centre of Excellence in Milan, complementing its existing design facilities in Budapest and Munich. The aim is to initially hire 20 specialist modem and millimetre-wave engineers within six months, expanding the company's engineering footprint in the European Union and aligning it more closely with EU space, semiconductor and communications programmes.

Poste Italiane raises TIM cash offer by 18% ahead of takeover deadline

Poste Italiane has increased its cash offer for Telecom Italia (TIM) shares ahead of the 11 September closing date of the public takeover bid. In a statement, state-backed Poste said the cash component of its offer would be raised by 18 percent, or EUR 0.30, to EUR 1.97 per share. The offer of 0.218 newly-issued Poste ordinary shares for each TIM share tendered remains unchanged.

TIM offers EUR 100 discount to new WiFi Casa subs

Telecom Italia (TIM) has launched a back-to-school promotion tied to its TIM WiFi Casa fixed broadband portfolio, offering a EUR 100 bonus discount (EUR 5 for 20 months). As a result, new customers pay EUR 24.90 a month instead of the usual price of EUR 31.90 for the first 20 months if they sign up online by 13 September.

FiberCop first-half revenues down 4% to EUR 1.79 bln, confirms guidance

Italian wholesale operator FiberCop reported revenues of EUR 1.79 billion in the first half of 2026, down around 4 percent year on year, with organic EBITDA after Lease (EBITDAaL) remaining broadly stable at EUR 810 million. The company spun off from Telecom Italia (TIM) in 2024 said it expects EBITDAaL to grow close to 10 percent year on year in the second half of 2026 thanks to additional services and B2B sales, having recently been awarded a tender to connect a further 700,000 premises in subsidised area

Telecom Italia's low-cost brand Kena has launched a one-off back-to-school data offer giving customers access to a free 100GB bundle at 5G speeds of up to 250 Mbps, reports Mondo Mobile Web. Under the promo, customers can activate the bundle at no extra cost to be used up over a period of 72 hours via the Kena customer area.

The leading executives of Telecom Italia (TIM) have joined Poste Italiane's takeover bid for the telecommunications group. In a short statement, TIM confirmed that CEO Pietro Labriola and other managers with strategic responsibilities "have tendered the shares they hold to the voluntary public purchase and exchange offer launched by Poste Italiane."

Italian retail sales down 0.4% in July, online up 2% year on year

Italy's retail sales declined 0.4 percent in value and 0.5 percent in volume in July compared to June, according to the latest preliminary data from national statistics office Istat. Shoes, leather goods and travel items fell 2.8 percent while the largest increases were recorded in electric household appliances, audio-video equipment (+6.1%) and other goods (+5.0%).

CMLink Italy adds 50GB a month to plans in autumn promo

Italian MVNO CMLink Italy, owned by China Mobile International, has launched a new back-to-school offer designed to persuade customers to sign up to its Super 160 monthly and Relax 160 annual plan. Under the promo, dubbed "CMLink Autumn Connected: More Giga, Less Spending!", the operator will add 50GB a month to the data bundle if users subscribe before 04 October.

TIM offering entry-level fibre for under EUR 20

Telecom Italia (TIM) has launched a promotion giving selected mobile customers the opportunity to sign up to its entry-level TIM Premium Base rate at the special price of EUR 19.90 a month rather than EUR 25.90, reports Mondo Mobile Web. Under the 'Premium Per Te' offer, available until 26 September, the operator is discounting the price for all new convergent customers.

Italian rural broadband specialist Eolo has launched a new offer that waives the cost of all of its fixed wireless access (FWA) plans for the first two months. The promo is tied to contracts lasting 24 months, although customers can choose to cancel the service within the first 60 days at no extra cost.

Argo, Adtran demo quantum-safe crypto on Rome metro network

Argo Alliance, the federation of Italy's two main non-profit internet exchanges Namex and Top-IX, has completed a joint demonstration with Adtran to integrate quantum cryptography into a live metropolitan network in Rome. Conducted under the QUID (QUantum Italy Deployment) project, the trial successfully transmitted a quantum key distribution (QKD) channel alongside high-capacity traffic over 30 km of shared fibre between two Namex data centres, validating coexistence on a standard passive WDM optical path.

Italian operator Tiscali, a brand currently licenced to energy group Canarbino, has again signed up to the government's National Youth Card initiative, offering users aged between 18 and 35 access to a special plan with 350GB of 5G data for under EUR 10 a month.
