Chilean operator Entel continued offering the best mobile network experience in the country, topping most of the rankings following a survey carried out by Opensignal over a 90-day period ending in December 2025. De-Cix Mexico said it has become the country's second-largest internet exchange around a year after its official launch, reaching nearly 200 Gbps of peak traffic and connecting close to 30 networks. The exchange, operating across five data centres in Mexico City and Queretaro, has seen a 260 percent increase in traffic during the first months of 2026, driven by strong market demand.

Puntonet Ecuador to invest up to USD 100 mln in flagship data centre

Ecuadorian operator PuntoNet intends to invest up to USD 100 million in a flagship new data centre in the capital Quito, reports local daily Metro Ecuador, citing CEO Katherin Miño. The facility, dubbed Epicentro, will be PuntoNet's seventh data centre and the country's largest upon completion, with 1,008 server racks and 6MW capacity across 8,000 square metres.

Colombia's Ministry of Information Technology and Communications (Mintic) has launched a new Spectrum Management Policy for 2026-2029, laying out a roadmap for more efficient and innovative use of radio frequencies. Telecom Argentina reported consolidated revenues of ARS 8.33 trillion in 2025 as a whole, up 53.0 percent year on year after adjusting for inflation of 31.8 percent. The result was above all due to the inclusion of Movistar Argentina following its acquisition in February 2024 coupled with higher ARPUs in mobile, internet and cable TV services after longstanding restrictions on price hikes were lifted. Latin American telecom services provider IFX has announced an agreement to acquire Redes Integradas Corporativas Limitada (Reico), a Costa Rican ICT specialist, for an undisclosed sum. Reico is present throughout Central America and IFX said the transaction serves to strengthen its value proposition in the Costa Rican market as well as in the wider region.

Vytal Group has announced the acquisition of Peruvian channel Latina TV for an undisclosed sum just a few months after taking over Chilean FTA channel Chilevision from Paramount Skydance. In a statement, Vytal said it intended to enhance Latina TV Peru's potential by integrating new technologies to expand its reach, strengthen its leadership and create compelling content for both domestic and international audiences.

KIO invests USD 70 mln in new Mexico City data centre

Latin American data centre operator KIO Networks, owned by I Squared Capital, announced the construction of a new facility in Santa Fe costing an estimated USD 70 million to meet surging demand in the Mexico City region. The site, dubbed MEX8, will have a capacity of 4MW and will operate with 79 percent renewable energy, said KIO, adding that it has already sold 60 percent of the data centre's capacity.

Unifique expands in Parana with iSuper takeover

Brazilian operator Unifique announced the acquisition of iSuper Telecomunicacoes Info, an ISP active in the state of Parana, for BRL 37.9 million. As part of the takeover Unifique has set up a new subsidiary in Parana to support the expansion of its fibre infrastructure and 5G network in the region. Unifique is paying BRL 9 million cash for the acquisition, with the remainder in shares of the new unit Unifique Parana. It will retain at least 51 percent ownership of Unifique Parana.

Brazilian operator Oi announced that a hearing was held to open sealed bids for the sale of its stakeholding in V.tal. Peruvian broadband provider MiFibra, majority owned by Chile's Scale Capital, plans to expand its fibre network from 1.4 million to 2.5 million homes by the end of 2026, reports DPL News, citing Marketing and Product Director Carlos Arévalo. Brazil ends 2025 with over 68% 5G coverage

Brazilian regulator Anatel reported improvements in connectivity, service quality, and overall performance in telecom sector in the fourth quarter of 2025. Key highlights include 68.39 percent population coverage by 5G networks, surpassing the 2027 target in licences, and the average contracted fixed broadband speed reaching 478.44 Mbps. Telefonica Brasil confirms CFO departure for UK role

Telefonica Brasil announced that its Chief Financial and Investor Relations Officer, David Melcon Sanchez-Friera, will be leaving his position on 2 April. This move is due to his new role as Chief Financial Officer at Virgin Media O2 UK, a joint venture between Telefonica and Liberty Global in the UK. The company's board of directors is expected to elect his successor by April. Melcon has worked at Telefonica since 2012 and led finance at the Brazilian business for ten years.
