Claro Honduras picks Enensys IPTV monitoring system

Media delivery specialist Enensys said it has partnered with reseller Igetel to deploy its StreamProbe IPTV monitoring platform for Claro Honduras (America Movil), at a video operations centre in San Pedro Sula. The rollout covers more than 200 IPTV channels and is designed to provide end-to-end visibility of the operator's video delivery chain.

Colombia's Ministry of Information Technology and Communications (MinTIC) said it has invested COP 25 billion alongside the National Academic Network of Advanced Technology (RENATA) to deploy around 342 kilometres of fibre-optic cable in the northern Magdalena department. The project has connected 14,158 families across the municipalities of Remolino, Ciénaga, Pueblo Viejo and Sitionuevo, as well as the stilt villages of Nueva Venecia and Buenavista.

Chile's telecommunications regulator Subtel has announced the launch of a cable removal and network reorganisation programme in the Coquimbo region, targeting disused wiring and inactive aerial infrastructure across its 15 municipalities. Brazil and the European Union have formalised a Digital Partnership to establish international cooperation in critical areas such as data governance, AI, 5G and 6G network infrastructure development, high-capacity connectivity, and digital public goods and services platforms. Peruvians port nearly 545,000 lines in May

A total of 544,837 Peruvian mobile users ported their phone number to another operator in May 2026, up 25,000 on the previous month's figure, according to the latest data from telecom regulator Osiptel. The vast majority (425,000, or 78% of the total) corresponded to the postpay segment, the fourth highest figure since the MNP mechanism was relaunched in July 2014, said the watchdog.

Claro Argentina (America Movil) announced an agreement with Latin American sports channel DSports (Vrio Corp) to broadcast all 104 matches of the Fifa 2026 World Cup. As a result, Claro TV and Claro Video customers signed up to the 'Grilla TV20' and 'Grilla TV120 Mundial' packages will be able to view World Cup matches via the DSports and DSports 2 channels in dial nos. 116 and 117.

AT&T boosts network capacity at Mexico City stadium for World Cup opener

AT&T Mexico said it has substantially expanded network capacity at Mexico City's iconic Azteca Stadium ahead of the 2026 Fifa World Cup opening match on 11 June in preparation for a surge in mobile data traffic from tens of thousands of fans. The stadium will be hosting around 90,000 attendees, the vast majority of which are likely to use mobile services during the event to share content, access information and communicate.

Paraguay's state-run operator Copaco has begun deploying 1,600 Starlink satellite internet kits to connect schools and healthcare centres in rural areas, the government. The digital inclusion initiative aims to provide high-speed connectivity to more than 50,000 students and teachers, with the first 100 units already installed in the remote Chaco region.

Chilean operator Wom has begun testing 5G Advanced technology in Chile by deploying 1024 QAM, a modulation technique designed to increase data transmission capacity and improve network performance. The pilot is being conducted on Wom's existing 5G infrastructure in partnership with Qualcomm, requiring no additional hardware upgrades.

Peruvian mobile lines top 39 mln in Q1

The number of active Peruvian mobile lines climbed 2.9 percent year on year to reach 39.4 million at the end of March 2026, up from 38.3 million a year earlier, according to the latest data from telecommunications regulator Osiptel. Total lines (with or without traffic) came to 42.2 million. Active postpay lines reached a record 20.6 million at the end of the first quarter, up 12.4 percent year on year and equivalent to 52.3 percent of the total, said the watchdog.

SES, TV Isla to bring high-speed broadband to Colombia's Providencia Island

Satellite services provider SES and Colombian telecom operator TV Isla announced plans to expand broadband access on Providencia Island using a hybrid satellite connectivity system that combines Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) and Low Earth Orbit (LEO) capacity. The aim is to address longstanding connectivity gaps on the remote Caribbean island by delivering resilient, high‑performance internet to around 7,000 residents and a steady flow of tourists, said the partners.

CNT Ecuador expands 5G network to Santo Domingo

Ecuador's state-owned operator CNT has announced the activation of 5G in Santo Domingo, the country's fourth-largest city, expanding the service to a total of eight localities, including Quito, Guayaquil, Cuenca, Manta, Ambato, Portoviejo and Salinas. CNT said it installed 5G base stations throughout Santo Domingo to meet surging data demands and enable customers to access far higher browsing speeds, lower latency and a more stable connection.
