South Africa approves Africa Data Centres acquisition

The South African Competition Tribunal has approved the proposed acquisition of Cassava Africa Data Centres (Cassava ADC) by Stanlib Fund II without conditions. Following the transaction, Stanlib Fund II will exercise joint control, with the possibility of acquiring sole control, over Cassava ADC. Data centre operator ADC is a business unit of African technology group Cassava Technologies.

Data centre group Digital Realty expanded into Portugal and Israel in the fourth quarter of 2025. According to its latest quarterly report, the company acquired a building and land in Lisbon which can support up to 2.4 MW for EUR 7.1 million. Further, Digital Realty Mivne established a new joint venture with MedOne, the leading data centre operator in Israel, and the venture acquired 2.5 acres of land in Petah Tikvah to develop an 18MW campus for ILS 90 million.

Amazon.com reported net sales up 14 percent year-on-year to USD 213.4 billion in the fourth quarter,  just above of its forecast range. The land purchase was valued at MYR 740.68 million and was agreed with IOI Properties Group. LG CNS has signed an agreement with South Korean AI chipmaker FuriosaAI to introduce neural processing units (NPU) into its agentic AI infrastructure, as the companies target opportunities in the public sector AI transformation market. Polish data centre capacity exceeds 200 MW

The whole capacity of Polish data centres has exceeded 200 MW, according to a study from the Polish Data Center Association (PLDCA). The capacity has doubled in the past three years and is expected to grow further to 600 MW by 2030. Around 74 percent of Polish data centre capacity is around Warsaw, where 30 major data centres out of the 45 across the country are located.

Japanese fibre operator Optage has begun operations at a new urban connectivity data centre in central Osaka, aiming to redistribute domestic network traffic away from the Tokyo metropolitan area and strengthen national business continuity. The investment aligns Maas with Firmus's strategy of reducing reliance on overseas manufacturing by developing Australian capabilities across advanced manufacturing, construction and electrification for AI facilities. SKT's Haein GPU cluster reaches six months of use

SK Telecom (SKT) marked the six-month anniversary of Haein, its GPU cluster built for GPUaaS, launched on 1 August 2025, designed to support large-scale AI workloads and the development of advanced AI models. The name Haein is inspired by Haeinsa Temple, home to the Tripitaka Koreana (Palman Daejanggyeong). Since its launch, Haein has become a core GPU computing platform supporting Korea's AI initiatives, including foundation model development and large-scale AI training.

AT&T, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Amazon Leo announced plans to work together, combining AT&T's fibre network with the capabilities of AWS.
