Dhiraagu partners with Medianet to introduce MTV Mobile streaming

Maldivian operator Dhiraagu has announced the launch of its Medianet streaming partnership, introducing a range of entertainment packages that combine seamless telecoms services with premium streaming content. It offers convenient, affordable access to popular TV channels, on-demand content and exclusive sports coverage. Packages are available from one month up to a year and prices start from MVR 50 per month.

UK comparison website Uswitch has announced the winner of its 2026 Telecom Awards. Voxi win four awards for Mobile Network of the Year, Best Value of Money Mobile Provider, Best SIM Only Mobile Network, and Best Mobile Network for Data. Lebara was named the Most Popular Mobile Network, and also won the award for Best Mobile Network for Roaming.

Electricity firm Oomi runs sales campaign with Valoo, starts MVNO on Telia Finland network

Finnish fibre company Valoo has announced a sales cooperation with energy services company Oomi, which has more than 800,000 customers and which took over Lumme Energia on 01 January 2026. In December, Oomi had started an MVNO on the Telia network.

Plus launches 6 months unlimited data offer for new prepaid lines

Polish operator Polkomtel, trading under the Plus brand, has introduced a new data offer to its prepaid customers. The package GIGApack Ultra provides unlimited data traffic for six months, and then 1,500 GB per month for the next six months. New customers will be able to access the package for half the PLN 25 monthly rate for the first two months. Unlimited calls and SMS/MMS are also included. The offer is valid when buying a new starter pack by 30 April.

Digi Italia authorised to apply roaming surcharges until Feb 2027

Italian communications regulator Agcom has approved an application from MVNO Digi Mobil to continue opting out of the roam-like-at-home requirement in the EU after confirming that it will be unable to cover the corresponding roaming costs. Under the EU regulation, operators can opt out of roam-like-at-home and continue to apply regulated surcharges if they can prove to their national watchdog that they will lose money if forced to apply the measure.

Vodafone Czechia brings out new tariffs for children and people under 26

Vodafone Czech Republic has announced the launch of new mobile tariffs for children aged 6 to 15 years old as well as older teenagers and adults under the age of 26. The tariffs combine flexible data options, including unlimited service at speeds of up to 50 Mbps. Children's tariffs come with built-in security and parental control through the Digital Parenting programme. Prices start at CZK 242 per month.

Oppo has launched its Reno15 smartphones in South Africa, expanding its premium mid-range portfolio in the local market. Fibre operator Valoo said it is overhauling its television service as it continues its cooperation with Alcom, begun in early 2024. Valoo is consolidating its three TV options into two with updated technology after customer outreach found that two packages provided a simpler choice and made it easier to compare its services with rivals.

GFiber has provided further details of a new Wi-Fi 7 mesh router that will be supplied to customers on its 3 Gbps and 8 Gbps price tiers as standard. The Multi-Gig Wi-Fi 7 Router will be included with Home 3 Gig and Edge 8 Gig plans as standard, helping deliver better speeds throughout customer premises.

O2 research shows high ticket resale prices forcing music fans into debt

New research from Virgin Media O2 shows that music fans are being driven into debt by ticket touts, with over one third (38%) of purchases on uncapped ticket resale websites funded through short-term loams (15%) or Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) schemes (23%) in 2025. One in five Brits who have used one of these resale sites has subsequently cut back on other spending to help pay for the gig tickets - including on dining (27%), nights out (27%) and holidays (25%). Starlink launches satellite internet services in Senegal

Starlink has officially launched its satellite internet services in Senegal, according to an announcement on X by Elon Musk. Users can subscribe to Starlink for monthly fees of XOF 22,000 or XOF30,000, depending on the plan. They must also purchase dedicated equipment, sold in two versions priced at XOF 117,000 and XOF 146,000. Starlink advertises download speeds of up to 305 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 40 Mbps.

Korean mobile operators face scrutiny over regional subsidies

South Korea's major mobile operators have come under criticism for offering regionally differentiated handset purchase subsidies amid a regulatory gap following the repeal of the Mobile Device Distribution Improvement Act (MDDIA), according to Chosun, citing industry sources. The MDDIA was abolished in July last year, allowing telecom operators to set handset subsidies independently under so-called "common subsidies" and permitting retailers to offer additional incentives without statutory limits.

M:tel BH launches Honor Magic8 Lite pre-sale

Bosnia and Herzegovina operator M:tel has started pre-orders for the Honor Magic8 Lite smartphone. The device features a 7,500 mAh battery and 108 MP AI camera with optical stabilisation and advanced editing tools. Those pre-ordering the Honor Magic8 Lite will receive an air fryer and a 12-month warranty covering accidental damage and liquid penetration. The smartphone can be purchased in instalments, with prices ranging from BAM 969 to BAM 2,429.

Fritz! introduces Wi-Fi 7 fibre router for EUR 169

Fritz, previously known as AVM, has started selling the Fritz!Box router 4630 for EUR 169. The company first introduced the router at the Anga Com trade fair in Cologne last year. The 4630 works with a fibre-optic modem (ONT) providing speeds of up to 2.5 Gbps, and supports Wi-Fi speeds of up to 2,880 Mbps in the 5 GHz band and of up to 688 Mbps in the 2.4 GHz band. The router is equipped with Wi-Fi 7 technology Multi Link Operation (MLO) enabling simultaneous WLAN connections across multiple frequencies.

Kena cuts prices, gifts a month of 5G for Valentine's

Telecom Italia's low-cost brand Kena has launched two new Valentine's Day-themed promotions for existing customers. The first offer cuts the price of the Kena Unlimited data option with 600GB a month of data for two months from EUR 9.99 to EUR 6.99.

POLAND 3 FEB

T-Mobile Poland discontinues Heyah 01 offer

Polish brand Heyah, run by the operator T-Mobile Poland, plans to stop providing its service Heyah 01 from 23 February. Customers using the service will be transferred to the MVNO Red Bull Mobile by default, keeping the same phone numbers. Subscription rates will be slightly less for the majority of customers, T-Mobile said in its communication to customers.

T-Mobile Poland discounts 5G smartphones with Unlimited plan

T-Mobile Poland has a promotion on two 5G smartphones in its shops. The Motorola Edge 60 Neo and Xiaomi Redmi Note 15 Pro are offered for discounted rates when connecting to the 'Unlimited Offer' from the operator by 03 March. The Motorola is offered for PLN 999, down from PLN 1,499, and the Redmi Note costs PLN 1,399, down from PLN 1,699.

Citymesh relaunches on B2B market with own mobile network

Belgian operator Citymesh is relaunching its mobile and broadband plans for businesses, using its own mobile network. The company said it is looking to challenge the existing operators with an offering of not just low prices, but flexible service designed exclusively for businesses. The launch is accompanied by a new website and marketing campaign, with the tagline 'Reliable network. Good service. Sharp prices. That's the deal.'

CZECH REPUBLIC 3 FEB

O2 Czech Republic refreshes Neo+ tariff line

O2 Czech Republic has refreshed its tariff line Neo+, increasing the data bundles and speeds. Customers are also offered coupons for up to CZK 7,000 off new devices. Under the Neo+ Blue and Neo+ Bronze tariffs, the operator is increasing the data volume by 2 GB, so customers will now receive 6 GB and 14 GB of data respectively. Under the Neo+ Silver tariff, the speed increases from 10 Mbps to 15 Mbps, and Neo+Gold rises from 20 Mbps to 40 Mbps.

Armenian telcos dispute terms with payment service providers

The Armenian payment services providers EasyPay, Idram, Telcell, and Fast Shift have accused the telecom operators Viva Armenia, Team Telecom and Ucom of unilateral changes to their agreements, undermining the economic foundations of payment services. The sharp reduction in fees makes it impossible to maintain the current service format and has already led to the unilateral termination of contracts by operators, they said. Canal Plus Africa CEO David Mignot says the company currently has no plans to increase subscription fees for DStv packages, MyBroadband reported. Anime streaming service Crunchyroll is updating prices for Fan, Mega Fan and Ultimate Fan subscribers in the US. From 02 February 2026, the Fan Tier will rise in price from USD 7.99 to USD 9.99 per month; with the Mega Fan Tier increasing from USD 11.99 to USD 13.99 per month, and the Ultimate Fan Tier from USD 15.99 to USD 17.99 per month.
