Traficom announces new sender ID rules from May 2026 to curb scam SMS

Finnish transport and communications agency Traficom has announced new rules from 04 May 2026 requiring telecom operators to ensure that text messages correctly identify the sender. The aim is to curb sender ID spoofing for criminal purposes. When a recipient receives an SMS that appears genuinely to have come from a government agency or bank, the likelihood of successful fraud increases, Traficom said.

Dhiraagu introduces NetProtect to tackle online scams

Maldivian operator Dhiraagu has introduced Dhiraagu NetProtect, a security service to safeguard users from suspicious SMS links, social media links and phishing websites. It costs MVR 35 monthly for Dhiraagu mobile customers and MVR 50 for fixed broadband customers. Subscribers receive an alert if a link or website is potentially unsafe before access is granted. Dhiraagu NetProtect blocked over 9 million security threats in November alone.

Bouygues Telecom Business, the B2B arm of French operator Bouygues Telecom, has expanded its cybersecurity portfolio with the launch of a managed XDR (extended detection and response) service designed for mid and large-sized organisations. Named bSecure, this new offering combines the expertise of Bouygues Telecom's Security Operations Centre (SOC) with the advanced capabilities of Cortex XDR, the AI-driven endpoint security platform from Palo Alto Networks.

Russian operator MTS has introduced  its new service Safe Internet for mobile customers, helping parents set up controls to block access to unsafe websites on their children's devices. Up to three telephone numbers connected to the Family Group from the operator can be connected to the service. A free weekly trial of the service is available, after which the monthly subscription costs RUB 99.

Latvian operator LMT announced that its cybersecurity solution has prevented 1.095 billion threats from 104.7 million malicious websites this year. The most common types of threat were phishing and malware, but at the same time, a consistently high level of threats is also created by 'C & C' centres (Command & Control) and schemes related to cryptocurrency fraud.

Fortinet rolls up Arista hardware into expanded Secure AI Data Center framework

Fortinet has announced an expanded iteration of its end-to-end firewall and security framework for AI-targeted data centre networks. The upgraded Fortinet Secure AI Data Center is rolling out in collaboration with its partner Arista Networks. The joint solution combines Arista's software-driven data centre switches and routers with Fortinet's AISC-based network firewalls and a raft of advanced security features, including AI-aware threat protection and encrypted traffic inspection.

Telia Sweden blocks 70% more fraudulent call attempts in 2025

Telia Company said it managed to stop 92 million fraudulent call attempts in Sweden 2025, up by 70 percent from 2025. This is equivalent to three attempts per second, or almost nine calls per Swede. Of the calls blocked, 57 million used the wangiri method, whereby the would-be fraudster lets the phone ring once then ends the call, hoping the recipient will ring back to find out who it was. The other 35 million were spoofed calls.

Nordic ICT lobby groups seek common cross-border security clearance process

Finnish ICT sector lobby group FiCom has announced petition backed by its counterparts in other Nordic countries urging a common security clearance process. As the security situation deteriorates and hybrid threats continue, cybersecurity has become a key issue, Ficom said. Companies are investing heavily in security, but more needs to be done to support their work. Ficom, Denmark's IT-Branchen, Sweden's TechSverige and Norway's TEK Norge are making a joint appeal to political decision-makers.

Swedish cybersecurity company Clavister said it has fully repaid its outstanding loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB), including accrued interest and related warrants. The repayment was enabled by a recent directed share issue and a new SEK 100 million loan facility from Swedbank. French B2B operator Adista, part of Inherent, has submitted an application to the national security agency ANSSI for SecNumCloud qualification. This marks the beginning of a process to certify its IaaS (Infrastructure-as-a-Service) platform, Adista Secure Cloud. Depending on the progress of audits and testing, completion could take more than twelve months.

Itsme takes over Dutch counterpart iDIN

Belgian digital ID platform itsme has acquired iDIN, a similar system in the Netherlands for digital authentication. As part of the takeover iDIN users will migrate to the itsme app from mid-2026. In addition to digital authentication and age verification they will have access to new services such as electronic signatures. The full integration of iDIN should be completed in 2028.

Bite Lithuania starts automatic block on suspicious SMS

Bite Lithuania introduced a new protection system blocking automatically SMS containing harmful links. The system blocks around 2,500 suspicious SMS daily, based on checks of the sender's data and links. The sender details are verified against a list of harmful sites compiled by the National Cybersecurity Centre.

BTicino and Fastweb + Vodafone launch 5G-backed smart home system

Italian operator Fastweb+Vodafone has partnered with smart home device specialist BTicino, part of the Legrand group, to launch a new system aimed at enhancing smart home connectivity via a dedicated and secure infrastructure. The platform, dubbed BTicino Sicuri e Connessi, is designed to keep all household devices – from video cameras to thermostats and alarm systems – continuously active and communicating over the 5G network operated by Fastweb+Vodafone.

NTT Docomo said the cumulative number of contracts for its Anshin Security Standard Plan and Anshin Security Total Plan exceeded one million on 5 November 2025, around 11 months after the service was renewed. The Canadian government has launched Phase 1 of the Canadian Quantum Champions Program (CQCP), supported by a CAD 92 million investment, to strengthen the country's quantum ecosystem and retain talent. Slovakia does not struggle with access to technology, but with its secure use, according to a new public survey. The majority of residents appear to be taking more risks online than in 2024, and significant gaps persist in practical cybersecurity habits, awareness of threats, and the protection of children online, according to survey conducted by the SCIO agency for the Cybersecurity Competence and Certification Centre (KCCKB) in October on a sample of 1,000 respondents.
