Dhiraagu partners with Medianet to introduce MTV Mobile streaming

Maldivian operator Dhiraagu has announced the launch of its Medianet streaming partnership, introducing a range of entertainment packages that combine seamless telecoms services with premium streaming content. It offers convenient, affordable access to popular TV channels, on-demand content and exclusive sports coverage. Packages are available from one month up to a year and prices start from MVR 50 per month.

Libyan Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology Holding Company (LPTIC) subsidiary Hatif Libya has signed an MoU with Comarch and Makman Technology Consulting concerning autonomous networks. It builds on validation of Comarch products in Hatif's operational environment, following cooperation on Zero-Touch and network automation. The Comarch platform was able to deliver tangible operational benefits and operate effectively within the specific network and business context of the operator.

Finnish fibre company Valoo has announced a sales cooperation with energy services company Oomi, which has more than 800,000 customers and which took over Lumme Energia on 01 January 2026. In December, Oomi had started an MVNO on the Telia network.

EU tells TikTok to change 'addictive' design or face fines

TikTok's basic design is addictive and needs to change if the company wants to avoid large fines in the EU, the European Commission said. Its investigation found that TikTok violates the EU's Digital Services Act, which requires large online platforms to reduce the risk of negative effects on users. The company will have a chance to respond to the allegations before the EU considers any sanctions.

Movistar Spain adds first Google Pixel devices to smartphone catalogue

Movistar (Telefonica) has reached an agreement with Google to add the latter's Pixel series devices to its catalogue of 5G smartphones in Spain. The operator said the standard Google Pixel 10 with 256GB is available at no extra cost when signing up to a 48-month convergent contract, with the Pro version costing from EUR 21 month and the 10 Pro XL from EUR 26 a month.

Telenor has reported a net intake of 8,000 mobile subscriptions in its Danish operation during the fourth quarter of 2025, with fixed internet customers up by 4,000 as fibre broadband customers rose by 11,000 . Telenor Denmark CEO Lars Thomsen said the figures speak for themselves and reflect a focus on creating value for customers by making targeted investments in its network, products that improve everyday security and services that make life easy.

Sosh, the budget brand of French operator Orange, announced that all new and existing mobile subscribers can now benefit from the Orange TV app on small screens. This service provides access to live and on-demand content on smartphones, tablets and PCs. In addition to 150 live TV channels, the app gives customers the option to purchase paid content from a library of around 30,000 films and TV series.

Digi Spain tops 700 proprietary mobile antennas

The Spanish subsidiary of Romania's Digi Communications Group has installed over 700 proprietary mobile antennas across Spain, including more than 600 in the past five months, according to data cited by website ADSL Zone. After activating its first antenna in Palencia last May, the operator has now reached a total of 706 across provinces including Madrid, Valencia, Salamanca, Barcelona, Girona, Alicante, Cadiz, Seville, Malaga and La Coruña, as well as the Balearic and Canary Islands.

DNA loses 32,000 mobile subscribers in Q4 but lifts organic mobile service revenue 4%

Telenor said business at Finnish arm DNA during the fourth quarter of 2025 was marked by intensified competition, particularly from special offers in the run-up to Christmas ("black season"). Its mobile subscriber base shrank by 32,000 in Q4 but mobile service revenue climbed 4 percent on an organic basis amid upselling and pricing initiatives.

Telenor Sweden gains 45,000 mobile subscribers in Q4 but loses 17,000 fixed line customers

Telenor said its Swedish business gained 45,000 mobile subscribers during the fourth quarter of 2025 but shed 17,000 fixed subscribers as it phases out less profitable products. Total revenue was up 8 percent and service revenue was 11 percent higher. Adjusted EBITDA climbed 21 percent on a reported basis or 11 percent organically.

Russian operator MTS has introduced an AI assistant focused on psychological support to subscribers of its tariff for young people RIIL. Consultations are unlimited and free for subscribers of the tariff. MTS noted that the service does not give healthcare advice, has an entertaining background, and declines responses to sensitive questions.

Anterix supplies 900 MHz private wireless spectrum to CPS Energy

Anterix, US-based connectivity provider for utilities, has signed a spectrum purchase agreement with San Antonio-based CPS Energy to support deployment of a 900 MHz private wireless broadband network. This mission-critical network will strengthen CPS Energy's grid operations - boosting reliability, resiliency and supporting the digital transformation of its infrastructure.

BTC introduces VoLTE service

Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC) has introduced Voice over LTE (VoLTE), enabling voice calls to be transmitted over the 4G network. To date, the LTE network has been used exclusively for data and internet services, however with the implementation of VoLTE, customers can now enjoy enhanced voice call quality that leverages this high-speed network. This next-generation technology brings several significant improvements to the calling experience, BTC said.

eSIM marketplace Airalo has implemented provisioning, security, and lifecycle tools supplied by its partner Valid, a provider of eSIM management and security solutions. Tablet market expands 10% in 2025, highest growth since 2020

Global shipments of tablet computers jumped 9.8 percent year-on-year to 162 million units in 2025, according to the latest figures from Omdia. The results reflect a strong holiday season in which Q4 shipments leapt by the same proportion as FY volumes, reaching 44 million units. Across the year, the tablet industry delivered its highest annual volumes since 2020, when the pandemic had fuelled higher orders.

Orange Luxembourg revenues increase 4% in H2, EBITDA dips slightly

Orange Luxembourg returned to revenue growth in the six months to December, reporting a 3.9 percent year-on-year increase to EUR 40.9 million, following a 0.6 percent decline in H1. Mobile service revenues were stable at EUR 20.6 million as the customer base fell to 248,000, compared with 263,000 in June 2025 and 258,000 at the end of 2024. 3 UK is offering Three+ loyalty members pre-sale ticket access to a gig by English singer Zayn in Manchester, part of his Konnakoi Tour. Three+ members will be able to buy a limited number of tickets for the gig, on 12 May 2026 at the AO Arena in Manchester, for up to 72 hours from 10am on 10 February. Tickets will go on general sale at 10am on 13 February.

Telenor said its Norwegian business put in a "strong financial performance" in the fourth quarter of 2025, based on its value-driven commercial strategy and firm cost control. Virgin Media O2 is partnering with Affirm, UK provider of consumer credit products, to offer flexible hardware financing to O2 mobile customers. Telenor reported a 3 percent rise in revenue in the fourth quarter of 2025 with the Nordic region once again acting as the engine of growth. Adjusted EBITDA was 8 percent higher. The company is proposing a higher, NOK 9.70 dividend for 2025 and planning a NOK 15 billion share buyback over three years, which the company said should leave flexibility to take acquisition opportunities in the Nordic region.
