MTS adds AI assistant for mental health support on youth tariff

Russian operator MTS has introduced an AI assistant focused on psychological support to subscribers of its tariff for young people RIIL. Consultations are unlimited and free for subscribers of the tariff. MTS noted that the service does not give healthcare advice, has an entertaining background, and declines responses to sensitive questions.

Megafon starts fixed services in North Ossetia in cooperation with Rostelecom

Russian operator Megafon said that it started connecting customers to its fixed broadband services in the Republic of North Ossetia. The services are provided under the FVNO (Fixed Virtual Network Operator) mode, in cooperation with the national operator Rostelecom. Megafon provides its fixed broadband services in more than 70 regions across the country.

Plus launches 6 months unlimited data offer for new prepaid lines

Polish operator Polkomtel, trading under the Plus brand, has introduced a new data offer to its prepaid customers. The package GIGApack Ultra provides unlimited data traffic for six months, and then 1,500 GB per month for the next six months. New customers will be able to access the package for half the PLN 25 monthly rate for the first two months. Unlimited calls and SMS/MMS are also included. The offer is valid when buying a new starter pack by 30 April.

A1 Belarus upgrades LTE network

A1 Belarus announced that it has deployed 386 new antennas on its LTE base stations since the beginning of this year, improving the quality of mobile services in more than 50 settlements. Work was carried out in cooperation with the state-owned infrastructure operator beCloud.

ER-Telecom acquires majority stake in smart home specialist Unicorn

Russian company ER-Telecom Holding has acquired 66.7 percent stake in the company Unicorn. A size of the deal hasn't been disclosed. The Perm-based Unicorn focuses on digitisation and management of smart homes, it runs a cloud platform for smart homes Ujin OS which connects IoT devices.

Play deploys 54 new base stations in January

Polish operator Play, controlled by Iliad, deployed 54 new base stations across the country in January. The operator said it ran a total of 13,229 base stations at the end of January. The majority of new base stations were built in Central Poland, and several stations were also launched in Warsaw, Krakow, Gdansk, Wroclaw and Poznan.

Polish data centre capacity exceeds 200 MW

The whole capacity of Polish data centres has exceeded 200 MW, according to a study from the Polish Data Center Association (PLDCA). The capacity has doubled in the past three years and is expected to grow further to 600 MW by 2030. Around 74 percent of Polish data centre capacity is around Warsaw, where 30 major data centres out of the 45 across the country are located.

Antik adds 3 channels to pay-TV lineup

Slovak operator Antik has added three channels to its pay TV lineup, reports Zive. The list includes esports channels eClutch 1 and eClutch 2, as well as the channel Padel Time. The operator also offers customers an opportunity to watch four channels in an open window in January: Love Nature, JOJ Cinema, Kanal 1 and AMC.

Vodafone Czechia brings out new tariffs for children and people under 26

Vodafone Czech Republic has announced the launch of new mobile tariffs for children aged 6 to 15 years old as well as older teenagers and adults under the age of 26. The tariffs combine flexible data options, including unlimited service at speeds of up to 50 Mbps. Children's tariffs come with built-in security and parental control through the Digital Parenting programme. Prices start at CZK 242 per month.

Orange Poland has announced a new service that offers customers the ability to compare travel insurance from different providers and then buy one. Those using this service to purchase travel insurance can obtain a 10 percent discount.

EC starts probe into Romania's planned changes to fixed wholesale market regulations

The European Commission has launched an in-depth investigation into a proposal by Romania's telecommunications regulator Ancom to reintroduce regulations on the market for wholesale local access provided at a fixed location. Since 2015, this market has operated without regulation.

Xiaomi, Huawei lead Russian smartwatch bestseller list in 2025

Russian sales of smartwatches and fitness bands totaled around 6.4 million units in 2025, reports the mobile and electronics retail chain M.Video citing a study from the company ICMR. Sales revenues amounted to RUB 46.5 billion. The average retail price of the devices was approximately RUB 7,300.

TTK upgrades network in Murom

Russian operator TTK has upgraded its network in the city of Murom in the Vladimir region in 2025. Numerous projects were carried out there, increasing the reliability of the network, TTK said. Residents of almost 100 buildings were covered with an upgraded internet network, and a new section of network was also deployed there.

Kyivstar to disconnect 3G in 4 regions in April

Ukrainian operator Kyivstar plans to disconnect its 3G network in numerous places in four regions across the country under the next stage of its 3G shutdown starting 21 April. The released radio frequencies will be allocated to LTE services.

Beeline Russia launches free cybersecurity check with Kaspersky

Russian operator Beeline, in cooperation with Kaspersky, introduced to customers a free software to scan for cybersecurity threats. Available on the telecom operator's mobile application, the software helps customers check whether they visited potentially dangerous websites using their devices and take protective measures promptly. The check is carried out at the network level.

Rostelecom expands fibre networks in Altay, Amur regions

Russian national operator Rostelecom connected more than 30,000 households to its broadband and other digital services in the Altay region in 2025. The operator said it deployed fibre-optic networks in 34 villages, and more than 5,200 households were also connected in cities and towns. Broadband subscribers at the operator totaled 247,000 households in the region at the beginning of this year.

T2 launches 6,500 base stations in Moscow in 2025

Russian mobile operator T2, a subsidiary of the national operator Rostelecom, said that it launched 6,500 new base stations in Moscow in 2025, or 20 percent more year-on-year. T2 also launched VoWi-Fi services in the capital city, and LTE services on the 2,300 MHz band in the Moscow Metro. In addition, indoor services from the operator became available in more than 50 new locations.

Kyivstar closes secondary public offering of shares

Veons announced that its Ukrainian subsidiary Kyivstar has closed its secondary public offering of 14.375 million common shares, at a public offering price of USD 10.50 per share. The offering was over-subscribed by five times, and included Kyivstar shares held by Veon, the principal shareholder of the company, and 400,000 common shares held by certain other selling shareholders.

Samsung Poland offers up to PLN 2,000 cashback on top mobile devices

Samsung Electronics Poland introduced a promotion on selected Galaxy smartphones and Galaxy Tab tablets, offering cashback of PLN 200 to PLN 2,000 to a virtual Visa card in the application Samsung Wallet. The devices include the Galaxy Z Flip7, Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, Galaxy Z Fold7, any tablet from the Galaxy Tab S11 series, as well as the Tab S10 FE and Lite. The promotion is valid in branded shops of Samsung, as well as At retail chains RTV Euro AGD, Media Expert, Media Markt, Komputronik, x-kom, Neonet, Auc

Geckonet expands network coverage

Polish ISP Geckonet, working in the Pomerania and Kuyavian-Pomeranian regions (in Grudziadz and Starogard Gdanski), expanded the coverage of its fibre-optic network under EU-funded projects in the fourth quarter of 2025. Another 270 houeholds were covered with the network in in Grudziadz, Nowa Wies, Nowe, Wielkie Lniska and Zduny.

Orange Poland offers prepaid data bonus with Lidl app

Orange Poland introduced new prepaid promotions. Customers logging into the My Orange app for the first time are offered a 500 GB monthly bundle as a bonus. The promotion is valid until 30 April. In addition, prepaid customers are offered a 1,000 GB monthly data package for a year when connecting to the Lidl mobile application. This promotion is valid for customers connected to the recurring Unlimited bundles with a monthly payment starting from PLN 35, until 28 February.

Plaska municipality to sell fibre network

Plaska municipality, based in the Podlaskie region of Poland, plans to sell its local fibre-optic network, reports Radio Bialystok. The network was deployed more than ten years ago under an EU-co-funded project on elimination of the digital divide. The municipality plans to sell the infrastructure because the maintenance expenses and taxes exceed income generated from the infrastructure. The initial price of the network is set at PLN 1.7 million.

Russian online video market grows audience 29% in 2025

Subscribers to online video services in Russia grew by almost 29 percent in 2025 to over 75 million, according to research by the agency TelecomDaily. The growth rate was similar to the 28 percent in 2024. Nine service providers had more than 1 million subscribers, while the market share of five leading players totaled 85 percent. The top-5 list included Kinopoisk, Okko, Ivi, Wink and Kion. The paid customer base grew by 33 percent, from 41 million to 54 million.

Vodafone Romania appoints Baloi as head of Vodafone Business unit

Vodafone Romania has appointed Alex Băloi as director of the Vodafone Business unit, effective immediately. Alex returns to Vodafone after serving as CEO of M247 Global. Prior to that, he managed Microsoft's strategic partnerships in Central Europe.
