
BT Group has announced plans to combine its UK and Republic of Ireland enterprise businesses, including wholesale activities. The move is designed to help accelerate its transformation, simplify its operating model and strengthen products and services as customers move towards converged technology.
The Business & Public Sector and Wholesale & Ventures units are being combined to create a new business unit called BT Enterprise. Gerry McQuade, currently CEO of the Wholesale & Ventures unit, has been appointed as CEO of this new unit.
BT Enterprise will provide products and services for SME, corporate and public sector customers, as well as wholesale services to around 1,400 communications providers across the UK and Ireland. It will also include the BT Ventures business incubator unit. McQuade will lead BT Enterprise unit from 01 May, with the unit reporting as a single unit from 01 October. BT Global Services will continue to deliver services to multinational companies operating in the UK and worldwide.
