Belgian operator Citymesh announced the acquisition of the local Sigfox network operator Engie M2M, expanding its range of connectivity services.
The Sigfox network targets IoT applications that require little bandwidth and long battery life. The global roaming capabilities will allow Citymesh to support both national and international customers. Over 250,000 devices are connected on the network in Belgium.
The deal adds to Citymesh's existing services over 4G and 5G targeting the business market and support its ambition to become the fourth network operator in Belgium. No financial details of the takeover were disclosed.
