Equinix to spend up to USD 1.9 bln in 2019 on new, expanding sites

Data centre operator Equinix has confirmed plans to open 12 new data centres and expand 23 existing sites in 2019. The investments will cost an estimated USD 1.730-1.920 billion in non-recurring capital expenditure. 

The plans include new data centres opened in Paris and Shanghai in Q1 and planned openings in Helsinki, London, Sofia and Tokyo in Q2. In Q3, new sites are planned in Melbourne, Sydney, Seoul and Warsaw, and Hamburg and Singapore will follow in Q4. 

Equinix expansions of existing data centres in 2019 include sites in Amsterdam, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Frankfurt (three expansion projects), Hong Kong (three expansion projects), London (four expansion projects), Madrid, New York, Osaka, Paris, Perth, Seattle, Stockholm and Zurich (two expansion projects).

Equinix currently operates 202 data centres in 24 countries across 22.2 million gross square feet of data centre space.
